Wheats Model, Aaru – ACO: The Curse of the Pharaohs

I worked on the models used to populate the Aaru afterlife. This turned out to be very difficult task in technical terms. Such dense vegetation is very heavy on the GPU and the concept of the world is “endless” and dense wheat fields. This called for a very nice looking and aggressive LOD’s, also to keep consistency we ended up with 8 different models of wheat with different LOD set up’s in order to cover all cases. I also worked a bit on the terrain textures to make the blending seamless.
Aaru is the Egyptian paradise, the endless reed fields. This is a serene place of final rest. Now it is ruled over by the restless spirit of Nefertiti.
