Assassin's Creed Shadows - Ice shader

For Assassin's Creed Shadows, I had the pleasure to work a few shaders.
One of them was this Ice.
The Ice in the game is very specifically used , as a gameplay surface during winter.
This somewhat limits but it was also very interesting task to work on.
I did have full creative control on it , I made the textures, masks and the shader ofcourse.
I used some parallaxing layers to simulated depth. But rather cheaply , as this doenst use full fat parallax with many samples.
This is much more of a height offset parallax , with a few fake layers made in substance designer.
I had fun adding details , like th bubles for example as this turns out to be a real phenomena on some frozen lakes .
Overall I always enjoy making interesting shaders , and this one was definetly one of my favorites.

I was lucky enough to work with incredibly professional teams. This game is a huge collective effort.
My congratulations and big thanks to everyone Sofia studio,
my team specifically - Tech Art , and everyone in Quebec and every other studio we worked with, on this project !

Thanks to Mark Brassard, for the task and direction
